No fun

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

I don’t like blogging here. It’s no fun. Consequently, I’m going to stop. *gasp!*

But I might blog somewhere else instead. If you’re nice, I’ll tell you where.

Thank you, and good night.

Saturday Night

Saturday, November 4th, 2006

It’s Saturday night, I leave tomorrow morning, so I think it is time to sum up my weekend in Stockholm.

  • The meeting with the old friend was great. Le rendez-vous avec le nouvel ami était superbe aussi.
  • The book store was okay. I’ve realized that I prefer buying books online. So much more convenient.
  • Gray’s American Food Store was a disappointment. I had heard that the store on Odengatan was bigger and better than the one in Gamla Stan. It was bigger, but the utbud (range?) sucked. No Mac & Cheese, no PopTarts… I did buy a Snapple though, which was great, and some candy. But there wasn’t much to choose from.
  • I bought a nice, hopefully warm, green jacket; a pair of Le Coq Sportif shoes; and a scarf. I was supposed to buy a warm sweater too, but instead I bought three t-shirts. Oops.
  • Strindbergsmuseet wasn’t very welcoming at all, so I didn’t go in there, but I did see the trappuppgÃ¥ng (entrance? staircase?), though. It was very nice.
  • The first thing I did was to visit Designtorget. They had some awesome Ernst matchboxes. I planned on coming back later, when I knew how much money I had left, to be able to buy as many as possible, but I forgot. Things came up. Oops.

Overall, I am very pleased with the trip, in spite of the disappointments.

I think I’m going to panic soon. I haven’t studied at all this week, which is so not good. The complete draft of the TOK essay is due on Monday, the Math project draft on Wednesday, the Philosophical dialogue on Friday. In addition, I have a Math test on Friday.

I am so screwed. As usual.

I think it is so mean of the teacher to put all those due dates the week after the break. They tell us we have to relax during the breaks, and at the same time give us this huge amount of work to do. Do I smell double standards? Yes, I think I do.

I don’t know why I insist on blogging in English. My “casual” English isn’t very good anyway. Maybe I should have chosen English B, and learnt how to write informal letters and notes, instead of spending my time on writing essays and comparative commentaries in English A2.

Please do comment. And be a doll and tell me which language you prefer. M’kay?

Withdrawal symptoms

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

Because of the frakking snow storm yesterday, my internet connection has been down for 24 hours. I’ve had serious withdrawal symptoms all night yesterday, and all day today. In addition, a new Veronica Mars episode came out today. Damn mother nature forced me to wait all day to watch it. My DSL finally started working this afternoon. I immediately started downloading the latest VM ep. Thanks to the good people at IT Hälsingland, the download only took about 20 minutes, as I now get a faster internet connection to a lower price.

The Veronica Mars episode was definitely worth the wait. One of the best episodes this season. For the love of god, The CW — please give it a full season order!

I’m going to Stockholm this weekend to visit my sister. She’ll be working most of the time, so I can do whatever I want.

My itinerary:

  • Catch up with some old, and new, friends
  • Visit Scandinavia’s largest book store (nerd alert)
  • Buy candy at Gray’s American Food Store
  • Buy warm clothes and shoes for the approaching arrived winter
  • Visit Strindbergsmuseet (nerd alert x100)
  • Look for Ernst memorabilia at Designtorget

Fun fun fun!

English prepositions are hard, btw. I’m not entirely sure I’m using them correctly.
